Return Form
- All returns must be accompanied by a Return Form
- If you are not satisfied with your purchase and the merchandise is unwashed, unworn or defective, return it for an exchange or refund within 90 days of purchase. USC Bookstore Direct Marketing will refund the item based on the original form of payment. All refunds will require a completed Return Form.
- All merchandise purchased as "Sale" and/or "Clearance" are final.
Clothing & Gifts
If you have the original receipt, USC Bookstores will refund the item based on the original form of payment. If you are not satisfied with your purchase and the merchandise is unwashed, unworn or defective, return it for an exchange or refund. All refunds will require the receipt from the original purchase.
Items returned without a receipt will be exchanged for like merchandise only, up to the current retail selling price. USC Bookstores may limit the number of returns permitted without original receipt.
Items purchased with gift certificates / store credit / merchandise credit will be refunded for a merchandise credit.
Items purchased with credit cards will be refunded via a credit to the card used at the time of purchase.
A USC Bookstores credit will be issued for any check purchases returned within fifteen (15) days of purchase date or for returns of previously exchanged merchandise. If your check is returned unpaid for insufficient funds, we may electronically debit your account for the check amount and service fees allowed by the state.
Items that are returned after 30 days with the original receipt will be exchanged for the current selling price or a merchandise credit will be issued for the current selling price.
USC Bookstores reserves the right to request an I.D. during any transaction or to deny any refund, exchange or price adjustment.
All merchandise purchased as "Sale" and/or "Clearance" may not be returned or exchanged.
Course Materials
Conditions applying to all refunds:
A valid USC Bookstores original receipt is REQUIRED for ALL refunds or exchanges. Course materials purchased new must be returned in new condition. Certain materials must be returned un-opened; these will be indicated as such.
Non-Returnable Items:
Wet or water-damaged books. Broken seals on software. Pre-packaged bundles or
kits are NOT returnable once opened. Books purchased after the refunds deadline.
Custom-published materials (course readers, lecture notes, syllabi). Special
orders, E-Books and anything marked "Non-Returnable."
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
Full refunds on textbooks will be allowed during the first 10 school days of
the Fall and Spring semesters and during the first 5 days of the Summer semester
and short-term courses, if they meet the following conditions:
- ALL RETURNS must be accompanied by a CURRENT CASH REGISTER RECEIPT. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- New textbooks must be returned in new condition and without any marks, EVEN YOUR NAME. We reserve the right to judge the condition of returned items.
- Cash purchases will be refunded in cash. Charged purchases will be refunded by credit to the originally charged account. Check purchases will receive a check in about four to six weeks after the date of purchase, unless the cancelled check (front and back) are presented to our Sales Audit Department. If your check is returned unpaid for insufficient funds, we may electronically debit your account for the check amount plus appropriate service fees allowed by the state.
- NO REFUNDS will be given to any special package textbooks with access codes, discs, recorded cassettes, or with additional text materials. NO REFUNDS will be given on access codes kits and study-aids. NO REFUNDS will be given on custom-published materials (course readers, lecture notes, syllabi). NO REFUNDS will be given on special orders, and anything marked "Non-Returnable."
Computer Store
EXCHANGE / STORE CREDIT / REFUND
- Software, hardware, peripherals and accessories are Non-Returnable. Because we cannot accept returns of products once they have been opened, before opening each product, please check its packaging and label carefully to be sure you received the correct product and version.
- Defective software or peripherals will be exchanged for the exact same item within a five business day period from original purchase date with original receipt.
- Defective hardware is subject to the manufacturer's warranty, service and exchange policies.
- Service and installation charges are not refundable.
- Special order items are not returnable.
- All hardware sales are final.
- All game and console sales are final.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Original receipt must accompany merchandise to be exchanged/returned within 5 business days.
- Merchandise must be in original box with original accessories, packaging, manuals and registration card.
- Refund is paid in the same manner as original method of payment for purchase.
- Refund checks are mailed 14 days from date merchandise is returned.
- Store credits are not refundable.
- Merchandise must be undamaged, clean, and in otherwise new condition.
- Merchandise using toner or ink cartridge must be returned with factory-sealed toner or cartridge.
- A 15% restocking fee may be assessed on all returns, defectives, exchanges, etc.
- All returns and exchanges must meet all the above requirements.
SPECIAL ORDER POLICY
- 50% of the total purchase price is required as a deposit on all special orders with the balance due at the time of pick up.
- 25% of the total purchase price (i.e., 50% of the deposit) will be forfeited if the individual does not purchase the special order item(s) within 15 days of being received.
- We reserve the right to modify the price at any time if our acquisition price or other terms from the distributor change. In the event the price is increased, Customer will be notified and will have the opportunity to cancel the order and receive a complete refund of his or her deposit.
Supplies
Merchandise (excluding electronics: see below) is refundable, providing the merchandise is in good resalable condition within 30 days of purchase. A valid register receipt is required.
Electronic merchandise can be returned within 24 hours. Absolutely no refunds will be extended beyond this time. A valid register receipt is required. The following conditions apply:
- Your electronics warranty with the USC Bookstore ends after 30 days of the purchase. Should the item purchased malfunction due to a manufacturing defect during that 30 days, you may return or exchange it at the Supplies counter on the third floor. 30 days after purchase the warranty with the USC Bookstore expires, and the manufacturer must handle all repairs. Most models are guaranteed for a period of one year. A proof of purchase receipt will be issued upon request if you recorded your purchase with us. You have one week to exchange your electronic item for a different model, provided that it is the same price. If you choose a more expensive model you must pay the difference. There will be no refunds or exchanges without the original box. The box must be in good condition. Please retain your cash register receipt. This is mandatory for all customers returning merchandise for any reason.
USC Bookstores at HSC
FOR EXCHANGE / REFUND
- This policy supersedes any other refund policy previously printed or published.
- All merchandise must be returned in the original condition in which it was purchased.
- A valid register receipt is required for all refunds or exchanges.
- Refunds on textbooks during the Fall semester will be allowed during the first 15 days of school, for Spring/Summer only during the first 5 days of school. After these dates, textbooks will be non-returnable. There are no exceptions.
- There are no refunds or exchanges on course readers. Please make sure that have confirmation of enrollment in the class before purchasing a course reader.
- Medical supplies must be returned within 48 hours of purchase. They must be in their original condition and packaging.
- General Books must be returned within 48 hours of purchase. Books must be unused and in original condition.
- There are no refunds or exchanges on review books, including flashcards.
- General Merchandise may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Merchandise must be in good, unused condition, with the tags attached to the product.
- Computer software, hardware and peripherals are non-returnable. Defective software and peripherals will be exchanged for the exact same item within 5 days of purchase. Defective hardware is subject to the manufacturer’s warranty.
